LinkFairing
A native Android app to organize and archive links locally, with biometric lock and Markdown export.
LinkFairing is a native Android app I built in Kotlin to organize, tag, and archive links without relying on cloud services or accounts.
I wanted a bookmark manager that lives entirely on-device, opens fast, respects Android’s Material 3 styling, and lets me keep private links behind a biometric lock.
Features
- Metadata extraction: When you paste a link, the app fetches the page title, open-graph description, and preview image in the background so you don’t have to fill them in manually.
- Biometric lock: Integrated fingerprint and face unlock to protect sensitive links, lock specific folders, or require authentication on app launch.
- Folders and tags: Group links into folders with custom icons, color accents, notes, and pin favorites to the top.
- Local backups and Markdown export: Everything is stored locally. You can export complete JSON backups or export your saved library as a clean Markdown (
.md) file. - Custom tabs or external browser: Opens links inside the app using Chrome Custom Tabs or hands them off to your default browser.
Theming & UI
- Material 3 dynamic theming: Adapts color palettes dynamically based on your system wallpaper.
- OLED pure black mode: A true black (
#000000) theme alongside the standard dark and light modes. - Layout density options: Toggle between a visual card layout with image previews or a compact, minimal list view.
