A Bard Game: Free-Fall Arcade Roguelike
A frantic hand-drawn free-fall roguelike featuring insane bosses, 90s easter eggs, and a dynamic mid-air shop system.

Free-Fall into Madness
This arcade roguelike turns the concept of falling into a frantic battle for survival. Players take control of a bard in an endless free-fall, dodging absurd hazards, shooting enemies, and collecting coins to upgrade their arsenal on the fly.
The Experience
You start with a basic shot, but through the mid-air Shop, you can upgrade to multishot, increase your fire rate, or desperately buy a Cold Beer to heal. The game features multiple difficulties, culminating in the unforgiving "Impossible" mode where a single hit means game over.
Core Features & Easter Eggs
- Dynamic Shop System - Purchase upgrades mid-fall, with healing items dynamically scaling in price and appearing based on difficulty and missing health.
- Hand-Drawn Aesthetics - A vibrant, 2D cartoon style featuring thick outlines and fluid animations.
- Insane Boss Fights - Face off against the giant Pizza Boss in chaotic bullet-hell encounters.
- 90s Easter Eggs - Get run over by a classic 90s Rally Car or watch the DVD logo bounce perfectly into the corner of the screen.
- Custom Achievement System - Built-in achievement tracker and local highscore saving.
Technical Craft
Developed in Godot 4, the project utilizes custom modular systems to handle the roguelike progression and endless spawning:
- Dynamic Spawning Engine - Time and difficulty-based enemy generation with weighted randomizers for easter eggs.
- Stateful UI & Shop - Fully integrated shop interface that reads global progression and dynamically generates purchase options.
- Persistent Data - JSON-based saving for unique non-repeating Game Over jokes, achievements, and highscores.
